    Appointment with Death
    By Agatha Christie

Summary: A detective named Hercule Poirot meets an unusual family named Boynton whos mother is a sadistic tyrant and the beleaguered kids are helplessly following their mother's orders. Mrs. Boynton is found dead one morning, and Poirot suspects murder. Along with the clues of the rest of the Boynton family as well as members of the vactioning party, Poirot closes in on the mystery and points out the villain.
    Review:
I thought this book was very well written. There were huge moments of suspense that propelled me to keep reading. The beginning was catching and confusing, which made me want to read on. Towards the end of the book, when Poirot was leading his interviews, it made me accuse different people as the murderer quite a few times. Agatha Christie winds the book around, making the reader point the finger at the wrong person, which I think is very talented. The mysterious characters in the book were depicted very clearly also. Agatha Christie described their appearances and personality very well and also put in how others felt about them. This made me visualize the characters' different ways of doing things.
I think this book was overall intriguing and perplexing that anyone who reads it will find it equally ineresting.

    The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
    By: Washington Irving

    Summary:

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow tells a legend about a soldier who lost his head during the Revolutionary war. He rides around haunting a place named Sleepy Hollow in search of his head. The book however, is not directly about this legend. Instead, it is about a man named Ichabod Crane who is a teacher. He is in love with one of his older students, Katrina. She is the prettiest girl in town, plus she has a rich family. Trying to get Katrina to love him back though, is the hard part. Many men are fighting to win Katina’s heart. The most competitive person is Abraham Van Brunt a.k.a Brom Bones. Abraham is muscular, and he loves fighting duels, or getting into trouble. He is also ready to take down anyone else who might have feelings for Katrina. One night Ichabod Crane goes to a small party, and Katrina is also there. The people talk, dance, laugh, and tell scary stories. After the party is over and everybody leaves, Ichabod lingers behind to tell Katrina how he feels about her when he finds out she doesn’t feel the same way, he sadly rides his way home on an old, unstable horse that he borrowed. Halfway on his way back, he hears hoofs galloping behind him. If he sped up, so did his follower. If he slowed down, his follower did the same. Naturally Ichabod gets freaked out, especially when he catches glimpse that the follower had no head. When Ichabod’s horse goes wild and throws Ichabod off, the headless horseman appears. Ichabod Crane disappears forever, carried off by the headless horseman. No one in town knows what happened to him though.

    Review:

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is an entertaining, short classic. It is easy to understand and fun to read. I enjoyed reading this book for my classic, and I think you should read it too if you ever get a chance. The book was mysterious and suspending. It is a very popular classic that almost everyone knows about. You can even guess who you think the headless horseman is. :) I think that this book is interesting and when you read it you’ll be itching to find out the ending.

    Black Beauty by Anna Sewell

    Summary:
Black Beauty is a story told from the perspective of a horse named Black Beauty. The horse is first taken care of a kind, loving master. Then he is sold from one master to another, both cruel and kind. As he has new masters, he meets new horses and makes new friends. In the end, Black Beauty finds a loving home with three ladies who care for him very much and will never be sold again.

    Review:
In my opinion, the book was an intriguing adventure with action, love, and cruelty. The way Anna Sewell told the story from the perspective of an animal made me wonder about what animals think about, and she made me feel like I knew Black Beauty. It was exciting to find out how the next master of Black Beauty would treat him. As I read on, I found myself feeling sympathetic towards Black Beauty and angry at his masters. Overall, I really enjoyed reading the book and was hooked by it.

    Book: The Secret Garden
    Author: Frances Hodgson Burnett

Summary: Mary, a troubled young girl, yet quite inquisitive, is forced to move to Misselthwaite Manor, England due to her parent's deaths in India. Although Mary is quite contrary and miserable, she soon discovers a mysterious garden that was untouched for years. Along the way, she gets accustomed to her surroundings and the people around her, only to find out the truth about "The Secret Garden".

Review: In my opinion, the book was genuinely written. You are always held by a hook, not knowing what was next at times, predicting the unpredictable at another. Frances Hodgson Burnett establishes the theme early on in the story. As the story proceeds, there are sudden turns and jerks. This story was hard to get into, but once in, there's no backing out- the ending captivated the reader once and for all!

    The War of the Worlds
    By: H.G. Wells

Summary: In The War of the Worlds, the main character, a scientific writer, is fighting to survive against a horde of souless aliens from the planet Mars. He travels all over the interior of Great Britan in his search for saftey, eventually returning home safely. The Martians have their minds set on totally enslaving the planet Earth, and with their frightening weaponry, including Heat Rays and canisters full of posionous Black Death, they stand a high chance of cutting through the thin line that represents the armed forces of the world's nations. However, the mighty Martians are felled by, of all things, the common cold, and everything returns to normal.

Review: In my opinion, The War of the Worlds is an incredibly great book. H.G. Wells puts you on a roller coaster of drama, with horror and death just around the corner from freedom and joy. The attention to detail was insane, telling you everything about everything. It described the color, height, width, length, and quantity of everything from wagons to war machines. The readers of this novel will finish it smiling, and will want to ride the roller coaster again.

    Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

The Christmas Carol is about a cold-hearted man by the name of Ebenezer Scrooge. It is Christmas Eve and he is making his only employee, Bob, sit in the cold and work because Scrooge refuses to spend money on heat. Three ghosts visit Scrooge that night, the ghost of Christmas past, the ghost of Christmas present, and the ghost of Christmas to come. The three ghosts show him how his life has effected society, including him. He realizes how much of a “Scrooge” he has been and changes his life into a person that people will actually want to be around.

My thoughts of the book were overall very positive. I liked the book because it taught me to put others in front of myself. It taught this life lesson in an enjoyable, entertaining way. If I had to rate this book I would rate it a 4 out of 5.

The Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane

    Summary:
Henry, a young boy, enlists in the 304th regiment of the Union army. Being extremely eager to see combat, Henry is ecstatic when rumors spread that they will be entering battle soon. Shortly after, the regiment does battle with the Rebels. The Confederates and Henry’s regiment attach each other multiple times, and Henry ends up running from the battle. Henry later meets up with other regiments and people to talk to, but eventually returns to his own regiment. He lies about how he had come to desert, and is accepted back into the group of soldiers. Henry then meets up with his old friend. The next time the regiment goes into battle, Henry fights with such ferocity that he is noticed by his superior officers, and he hasn’t even shown his best yet.

    Analysis:
I believe this book was very well written. While Henry is finding other regiments, some things happen that horrify him. Crane uses his writing skill to shock the reader, too. Crane does an excellent job of displaying a soldier’s thoughts—that of Henry’s—in the book. His detail and metaphors make the book quite enjoyable to read. Throughout the entire novel, the action never stops. The Red Badge of courage will lead you on an exciting, and sometimes terrifying adventure of heroism and emotions. This book will put you in the mind of a soldier.

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

    Summary:

This story is told in the point of view of Jean Louise Finch. Jean Louise has a father named Atticus that is a lawyer defending a Negro. Jean Louise and her father have been getting hurtful comments because of this. After traumatic events, two deaths, Jean Louise meets this man named Boo Radley. She had always thought he was a terrible and horrifying man, until now.

    Review:

I really like the time period it was set in. However, as a cause of this, it got confusing at times. Overall, it was good book and I really liked it. I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars if I had to.

Killers at large- Criminal Profiling and the Cases They Solve
    By: D.B Beres

Summary: The book starts out by explaining comomon expressions and vocabulary used in criminolgy, as well as profiling. It leads into the details of what a Profiler is, and how they help our Justice System. They explain the uses of profiling by giving a somewhat detailed story about indubitable cases. The first story was about a bomber in the streets of New York. He was caught 10+ years after planting his first bomb. The book went on to explain how criminal profiling was the only way the convict was found. The next story was about a house fire with a dead body burning inside of it. What baffled the police was that the person was already dead by the time the house caught on fire. The last case was regarding the hacker at a university in Canada. The book ends by giving you a time line of how profiling has progressed over the years, as well as some of the documents and technologies used to profile a criminal.

Review: I thought this book was very intriguing. I have always been interested in criminolgy, and forensic science. While the book was very small, it was very informational. The way the author addressed the information was very ingenious. The pictures and the way the book was formated only increased the way a reader might be captivated. I would recomend this book to any one who might be curious about the works of criminolgy.

Title: My Brother Sam is Dead (How do you italicize?)
Author: James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier

    SUMMARY:
The main character in this book is a young boy named Tim Meeker who lives in the "Tory" town of Redding, Connecticut during the American Revolution. (Tory is a term used to describe colonists who did not favor war with Britain.) His entire family was extremely loyal to the king of England except his brother, Sam. Sam was a rather outspoken individual, freely voicing his opinions about Britain and how they should truly separate from their mother country, which often earns him a scolding from their father. After a heated argument between Sam and their father, Sam runs away to fight against the British, stealing their "Brown Bess" (A type of musket) to use for battles. When Sam left, it became harder for the Meeker family to get by everyday. The rest of the story is basically Tim's journey from being a child to a grown man. Tim now carried out the tasks Sam usually did. During a trip to sell cattle with his father, Tim's father is captured by the "Cowboys" (Cattle thieves who pretend that they are Rebel troops attempting to stop beef from reaching British stomachs) and dies of Cholera a year later on a British prison ship. Now, the daily farm work on the tavern accumulates for both Tim and his mother. Although work is hard, Tim notices that he is changing and becoming more like a grown man with every passing day. After a while, Sam returns to the tavern, a wearisome, famished man. Sam then is framed for stealing cattle from his own cattle by two other fellow Rebel troops who are afraid of being executed by General Putnam. Despite Tim's efforts to prove Sam innocent, Sam is executed for a crime he did not commit.

    OPINION:
The book was outstanding. To be honest, I am not a bibliophile, considering that I am truly fastidious about all the books I read. I grew very fond of all the characters, especially Sam Meeker, whom I truly admired for his outspoken nature. Before reading the book, I read the title to attempt to preview what the book was going to be about. My response was: "Another boy's brother named Sam dying in the revolution, Big deal." As I was towards the middle of the book, I grew very attached to Sam's character. My response then shifted to: "Perhaps the title, My Brother Sam is Dead, is just a title to scare readers. Please don't kill Sam." And when I finished the book, my final response was: "Nooooo, Poor Sam!" Reading the end, I could have sworn that I shed a tear or two. It is quite funny that my reactions while reading this book changed drastically from beginning to end. The characters in this book are truly well written and realistic. The captivating language acted as a force to reel me in as if it were telling me to keep turning the pages. For four straight hours, I did not put this book down. Tim's journey from being a simple child to a grown man was one of the elements of this book that truly enticed me. Another was the unbreakable bond between Tim and Sam as brothers. This book is truly amazing and is definitely worth the time to read. If you ever pick up this book, I am telling you right now that it is definitely worth it. (Out of excitement, I read this book again over Spring Break.)

She becomes friends with the local "Witch" and finds out that she is just an old sweet lady that is half blind. Opal makes other new friends too, and her whole life is changed because of Winn-Dixie.

Review: I enjoyed this book very much. The story line was very cute and relatable. The book had a lot of meaning for being such a short story. I learned that you have to get to know people before you judge them. I would recommend this book to my friends.

When a quest was brought up during the campfire, Piper was claimed by Aphordite, Goddess of love and beauty. Jason, somehow, knew his father. The Sky Lord himself, Zeus. But something was unsettling. Jason was talking about all the gods only in Roman form. Why? That was mystery that would be solved later.
Jason, Leo, and Piper get their quest that must stop Gaea, the powerful Mother Earth, from rising. Piper has a secret that she cannot reveal. Leo can bring fire through his hands. And what about Jason's memory? Will it be restored? All those questions are answered in The Lost Hero.

My opinion of this book is that it is the best book ever written by Mr. Rick. It was full of suspence, drama, romance, and adventure all together. I couldn't put done the book for one minute. This is my third time reading this book, and it still takes my breath away. I really think that this book should be read by the fans of Percy Jackson and the Olymipians. It is a fabulous book!

Hera gives them visions to save her before Gaia, the mother Earth, awakes and raise the giants from the Underworld. Jason found out that Hera took his memory and the only way to get it back is to save Hera. Somehow Leo was chosen by Hera to be a great hero. Leo has this fire powers that is so rear. At the end they save her but the giants had come out but they are waiting for Gaia to awake. When they get back they find out that Percy could be in the other camp in, in the Roman camp.
I think that the book was great. I really liked it because it has great tone. It could make me image it like a movie. Its great details give it all. When I read the series before that (the Percy Jackson series) I felt bad because I wish that there was another series with the same characters and I got it. I cant wait for the next book that comes out in Fall 2011

    Twilight
    Stephenie Meyers

A girl named, Bella Swan currently living with her mom, moves to hers dad's in Forks, Washington. Jessica, one of Bellas' new friends, explains to Bella that there's a family named the Cullens and they always keep to themselves. Soon Bella figures out the Cullens are actually vampires and Bella becomes closer with Edward, one of the Cullens, and his family. Thats when Bella also figured out that the "animals" her dad, a police officer, and other police officers are trying to find are actually other vampires that are killing people. One day the Cullens take Bella with them to go play baseball, when they run into the other vampires that have been killing people. What happens if they notice Bella isn't a vampire?

I liked Twilight because the way it was written in first person, I felt like I was in the book as Bella. I also liked how it made you feel the emotions Bella had. It was well written because I could see images in my head by the way she used imagery. I also liked how she had events leading up to Bella and Edward becoming friend instead of just making them friends right away. And I liked how descriptive and detailed the book was.

    Book Title: Winter's End
    Author:Jean-Claude Mourlevat

Summary: Two teenage girls, Helen and Melina, and two teenage boys, Milos and Bartolomeo, have spent fifteen parentless years in boarding schools. The city they live in is run by a tyrannical government. They escape the clutches of the strict boarding school staff and are on the run. Only three of them make it to the resistance movement headquarters. One of the escapees has inherited the voice of her mother and they all discover what a difference one voice can make. While three are safe at headquarters, Milos is captured and sent to a training camp. The only way out is to compete in deadly, ancient, fighting games. He wins his fight but is attacked on his way back to the waiting room. Will the friends reunite and live happily ever after or will they suffer great losses?

My Opinion: I thought the book was very good and full of suspense. For the most part the book is very dark and I think it describes the awfullness of the city very well. I wish the ending was slower. It feels like the author was under a time crunch to finish and just ended it abruptly. I love the fact that the main characters find who they are through what they experience. Overall I think it was a really good book and I recommend it to those people who love a good mystery book.

Book Title: The Old Man and the Sea
    Author: Ernest Hemingway

Summary: An old Cuban fisherman, Santiago, has gone 84 days without catching a fish. His young friend and apprentice, Manolin, still has hope for Santiago, but is told by his parents to stay away from Santiago because he can't catch a single fish. Nevertheless, Manolin still goes to Santiago's shack to bring him food and talk about baseball. On the 85th day, Santiago ventures out to the Gulf Stream to catch a fish. He sets his baits on his boat, and waits for a fish. Then, a huge marlin pulls on his bait, and Santiago struggles to pull it in. For days and nights, Santiago felt pain inside his hand, and he called the marlin his "brother" because of the enduring pain and struggle that they had with each other. Then one day, Santiago uses his harpoon and kills the marlin. He sets the dead marlin to the side of his little boat, and heads home. On his way back home, sharks were attracted by the marlin's blood. Even though the sharks ate majority of the marlin's flesh, Santiago was able to fend them off. When he arrived back at the coast, he went straight to his shack and slept. The next day, a group of fishermen gathered around Santiago's boat to take a look at the marlin that Santiago had caught, and they measured the marlin to be 18 feet from nose to tail. Manolin brings coffee and newspapers to Santiago's shack. As the two talk about fishing together once again, Santiago goes back to sleep dreaming about lions.

My Opinion: This book is full of hope and pain. I felt sorry for Santiago's bad luck, and I felt bad about Manolin because he was told to stay away from Santiago and is left behind while Santiago goes out to the Gulf Stream to catch fish. This book gave me new vocabulary words, and I learned much from it. I would recommend this book to readers who are advanced or would want a mature reading level. Overall, I wish schools would read this book, and I think this is the best book in English literature.

    Book Title:New Moon
    Author:Stephenie Meyer

Review:Bella has been going out with her vampire boyfriend,Edward, for six happy months. The only thing that worries her is his refusal to even consider making her into a vampire like him. As the day of her eighteenth birthday rolls around she feels less than happy because she is now older than Edward, who will never age past seventeen.
To celebrate her birthday Edward takes Bella to a birthday party at his family home but when an accident that leaves Bella covered in blood and nearly triggers a feeding frenzy in Jasper, Edward’s brother, the party falls somewhat flat.
Edward suddenly becomes more distant towards to Bella and finally he tells her that he and his family are leaving Forks, to never return, and he no longer wants to see her.
Her whole world falls apart and as she becomes withdrawn from the world she soon loses most of her friends becoming even more isolated and lonely.
When she does something dangerous she starts hallucinating and thinks she can hear Edward telling her not to do anything dumb and to be more careful. This leads to a whole new range of interests for Bella including learning to ride a motorbike and cliff diving because she feels that he is still with her at those times. Her old friend Jacob Black help Bella by fixing up her motorcycle for her and teaching her how to ride it. Although the pain of Edward’s departure never leaves Bella, Jacob soon becomes her best friend and he helps to fill some of the emptiness in her life.
Jacob himself is no ordinary boy and soon Bella discovers that part of his Quileute heritage is to be cursed to be a werewolf.
Alice returns to Forks and although she brings no news of Edward with her, her extraordinary gift of being able to see the future soon tells her that Edward is heading on a path of self destruction that only Bella can advert. But will Bella be in time to stop the tragedy?

My Opinion: I personally thought that this book was okay. It was full of drama and action. The beginning was a little boring, but when i got to the middle of the book it started to get interesting. I honestly liked reading about how Bella would do something crazy just to hear Edward's voice. Overall, I think that this book was alright and that it's not something i would want to read over and over again, but just something to read because you're bored.

    Title: Remembering Raquel
    Author: Vivian Vande Velde

The book is about a girl named Raquel Falcone, she dies and someone is goes around to people that used to recognize her as a no one but who now care. She didn't really have any close friends and if she did they didn't always hangout like most high school teenagers. All the people that get interviewed have such different descriptions of her it's sometimes confusing to tell who actually knew her. Even her parents weren't so sure about how she acted. Even when her teacher made the announcement no one knew who it was until they looked around, and someone commented "Now i'm the fattest girl in the class". She was walking to the movies and she was on the corner of a street and the last thing everyone else knew was her being hit by a car and never talking to her again.

My opinion: This book made me think, think about what everyone else knows about me and how they'd explain me and how i was. This book was a little depressing and on the edge, but it was also quite confusing. I felt bad for Raquel because she had all these people around that had NO idea who she was. It was a great book though and i definitely recommend it!

    Matched
    by: Ally Condie

Where Cassie lives, the officials decide everything - where you live, what you wear, and the most important - who you love. Cassie is "matched" with her best friend; she is certain this is the perfect match. One day, Cassie puts her information card into her screen (everybody has one) to look at her match one last time before bed, but the face that shows up is not her match (her best friend). The society, though, never makes mistakes.

My opinion: I personally loved this book! It made you think about what the world would be like if we had no choices, and if everything was laid out before you like a map. I could not put it down and can't wait for the next one.

    Crocodile Tears
    By Anthony Horwitz

Summary: A con artist by the name of Desmond McCain is released from jail. He converts into Christianity and opens his own charity which raises money to help victims of natural disasters. He invests the money in genetically modified crops, so strong that it can destroy a country in one day. The event is planned to be so catastrophic that he can embezzle millions of dollars received as donations to the charity. Only one person knows about his plan and that is 14 year old spy, Alex Rider.
Alex Rider goes through gunfire, explosions and near fatality many times to try to save the day. To find out if he saves the day or not, you must read the whole book.

Review: I thought the book was very well written and the plot was well planned out. There were some parts of the book, where I wanted to read on because of the cliff hanging suspense. I have read previous books in the story, therefore the beginning wasn't that hard to understand. Some information in the beginning won't be understood by people reading the series for the first time. Later into the book, everything was well up and easy to understand. Towards, the end of the book, there was a major twist in the plot which built up the suspense. I had already guessed the plot in the beginning of the book, but the twist was unexpected. I liked the idea of putting a major twist because it makes the readers more eager to know what happens next. The words were very descriptive and painted a visual image in my head. I believe that this book was very appealing and bewildering that anyone else who reads it will be very interested and shocked.

    Author: Linda Gerber

    Summary:
Going to Seattle for a teenage girl may be fun, until something much unexpected happens. Aphra Connolly’s life takes a dramatic turn when she takes a trip to reunite with her mother, Natalie, after four years without any contact. While in Seattle, Aphra is bewildered when Joe, Natalie’s partner, is killed out of the blue. The ring holds a special message that makes all worlds turn upside down, almost causing Aphra to be the next target of death.
    My opinion:
Adventurous, mind boggling, page turning is how Death by Latte should be described. This book kept me reading until my eyes could stay open no more, every night. I enjoyed this book a lot because it was one of the very few books that kept me entertained and wanting to read more. The excitement and anxiousness of the events throughout the entire book made me want to stay alert and pay attention to every minor detail, almost like what a latte does to your mind and body. Each chapter created a perfect picture in my head, making the book seem like an adventure movie. I know I will be recommending this book to all of my friends, since I absolutely loved it!

    Book Title: No Talking
    Author: Andrew Clements

    Summary:
The fifth grade boys and girls of Laketon Elementary not only are the loudest group the teachers have seen, but they do not get along. One day, Dave Packer came up with this crazy idea from a report he was doing for one of his classes. He shared his idea with the whole fifth grade and soon enough everybody participated. The rules were that you had to go through two days of no talking at school or at home, but if a teacher talks to you, you can only respond in three words or less. As the contest grew longer and longer, each teacher began to wonder what was going on and some teachers were even losing their minds. Could the boys or girls say fewer words? Finally, the contest ended in a perfect tie.
    Opinion:
When I started to read the summary of this book, I instantly feel in love with it. By the time I was done, I closed the book and just smiled. It was probably the best book I have ever read. How did the author think of a story about kids would decided they didn't want to talk? I liked this book because personally, I am a person who talks alot and I don't think I would ever be able to do something like that. After reading this book, maybe one day I will attempt to do what the kids did in the story.

    The Hunger Games

SUMMARY: This book was about a girl named Katniss Everdeen. Which is set in the far future from now, and they live in 13 regions of what used to be the United Sates. Once a year they would have an event, called the Hunger Games. Two people, a boy and a girl, would be chosen to participate, and the last one alive won. Katniss's younger sister was chosen to go, but instead Katniss steps forward and takes her sisters place. Once the Hunger Games began is was all about survival.

OPINION: I thought that this book was very good. At the beginning it was getting a little boring and because it didn't go right into what the whole book was about. What I also liked about this book was that it didn't just have action, but it also had romance which I liked. I also like when that each chapter of the book had a cliff hanger so you could keep reading, because I don't like to read that much and the end just kept making me want to read more.

Summary: The Giodano sisters have already found out about their physic abilities, and in this book they learn that the town of Nightshade, California is getting crazier by the day. The youngest of the sisters is Daisy, and she starts to suspect there is trouble when her boyfriend, Ryan, and many of the other football players, have gained a lot of muscle over a really short time. Things take another turn for the weird when people start seeing double. The Giordano sister’s don’t think much of it until rumors start spreading that their father, who disappeared years before, is back in town. Throughout the book the sisters solve many Nightshade mysteries. Along the way, the girls come face-to-face with their father and the relationship is restored.
Opinion: I really enjoyed reading this book because, it wasn’t ordinary, and I knew that every page was going to be funny and different than the last. I liked the book because most fantasy books have a story line that is hard to follow. "Dead is So Last Year" wasn't just fun to read it makes you appreciate your family, because in the books the Giodano sisters didn’t have a father. I would recommend this book to my friends because it relates to teenagers and struggles we all have to go through. Overall, I think Marlene Perez did a fantastic job writing this series.

    The Hunger Games
    Suzanne Collins

Summary: Sixteen year old Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take the place of her twelve year old sister, Prim, in the annual Hunger Games. Each year one boy tribute and one girl tribute are chosen from each of the twelve districts that make up Panem, the nation that was once North America. These tributes are whisked away from their friends and family and are thrown into an arena where they must fight to the death for the entertainment of the Capitol. Only one will remain standing. Katniss leaves everything she has ever loved behind, including her best friend and secret love, Gale. Her and Peeta, the male tribute from district twelve, go through training and preparation in the Capitol, where Peeta confesses his love to Katniss for all of Panem to hear. This becomes their strategy for survival. The love birds of this year's Hunger Games. Katniss must survive in the arena if she ever wants to see the people she loves again. She fights with all her heart, hoping it will not come down to her and Peeta in the end, for deep down she knows that she is in love with him as well as with Gale. The two are a team, and she knows she will never be able to kill Peeta. In the end, they are the last two. Peeta is willing to die for her, but Katniss knows she cannot let that happen. In her hand, she holds out poisonous berries for her and Peeta both, knowing that this could either be what kills them or saves them. The Capitol acts quickly and takes them both from the arena, refusing to not have a victor for the first time in the history of the Hunger Games. Both are sent back to distict twelve. This is only the biginning of the rebellion. Those small, poisonous berries are what started it all.

My opinion: This is by far one of the best books I have ever read. I loved it! I couldn't put it down. The Hunger Games keeps the reader interested and you feel like you are actually in the book. It is happy, sad, suspensful, entertaining, and just an overall amazing book. This book actually brought me to tears at one point. I would most definitely recommend this to someone else.

The characters were very realistic and original and developed throughout the novel very well. I could imagine being any of the characters of the book. Janette Rallison did a great job writing this book because it played out like a movie in my head as I read it. It was very well put together and flowed well. The language(which was written through the thoughts of a high school girl) made me want to keep reading. This was a fast and entertaining read. Twilight
    Stephenie Meyer

Summary: This book is about a 17 year old girl named Bella Swan. She moved from Arizona from her mom to where her dad, Charlie, lives; in Forks, Washington because her mom, Renee, starts traveling with her husband, Phil Dwyer. At Forks, Bella meets a stunningly attractive boy named Edward, who she soon becomes friends with after he saves Bella from an out-of-control van. Bella becomes curious about how Edward had saved her life, because no human could live after stopping an out-of-control van with bare hands. After a family friend, Jacob Black, tells Bella about the local town legends, Bella realizes that Edward and his family are 'vegetarian' vampires, and how they only drink animal blood, but that doesn't stop Bella from falling in love with him. Later on, James, a vampire that hunts humans for fun and usually gets what he wants, starts to hunt Bella, and nearly kills her after luring her to a empty ballet studio. Bella was bit on the arm, but Edward prevents her from turning her into a vampire by sucking out the poison. They kill James, and then Victoria starts hunting Bella to get revenge. Bella and Edward attend the school prom together, and that ends the book of Twilight.

Opinion: This book was really good and unlike what people say, you don't have to be a girl to enjoy this book. There were some minor flaws that Stephenie Meyer had, like how the vampires could stay alive in sunlight, or be close to garlic, but it doesn't really matter. I really loved this book and that had made me read all of her other books in the series. I recommend this book to vampire lovers and people who love romance novels. I give this book 5 stars.

The one problem is, is Ky is an aberration, so he can’t be matched or married, so Cassia doesn’t even know what will happen when she finds him.

My Review/Opinion: This book was a page-turning story. It had romance, and adventure combined into one. The ending did disappoint me, because I had pictured a different ending in my mind. On every page there was a new surprise, because this book was constantly changing. It had a good plot line, but is most likely a girl book. Cassia lives in a differently run world than we do, so it was interesting to see what different world could be like. I really enjoyed this book, and would recommend it to anyone who likes adventure, romance, and living in other worlds. This book was wonderful, and I look forward to reading other book by Ally Condie!

    Book Title: Tenth Grade Bleeds
    Author: Heather Brewer

Summary: It's another year in Bathory High for Vladimir Tod, who is half-vampire and half-human. Since the 8th grade he's been dealing with his powers and being hunted by vampire counsel president D'Ablo, who this time sends a bounty hunter after Vlad. The worst of his problems is that it's becoming much more of a challenge to resist controlling his hunger for feeding off of humans, even his girlfriend Meredith. More problems keep arriving one after the other like having D'Ablo make Vlad's nightmares more realistic and his drudge, or best friend, Henry doesn't really want to get involved in being his drudge or Vlad's best friend either. Also a little incident may have made Vlad being vampire be known to the entire world when another student Eddie Poe takes a photo of Vlad and his eyes show up a deep purple. At that point all Eddie wants to do is crack the case and prove to everyone that vampires exist. Things really get intense once D'Ablo captures and tortures his uncle Otis and steals his invincible, Pravus abilities. In the end Vlad loses his Pravus powers, begins to feed on a goth named Snow, Henry begins to like being a drudge, and Vlad had an inevitable break up with Meredith, because of his hunger for humans.

Opinion: I'm not one to enjoy any book at all but this series and book actually kept me in its grip. This was one of those books I really couldn't put down until I got to the end of it. Every now and then I ended up being shocked and confused at every twist and turn this book throws at me. There's not one point in the book that I wanted to just put the book down for any reason at all. If you like books with some action and interesting story lines you should probably pick up on the series. If there's any book that I would actually like to repeat reading it would be this one.

Book Title: The Second Summer of the Sisterhood
    Author:Ann Brashares

Summary: After their first summer of being apart, Bridget, Carmen, Tibby, and Lena decide to continue the tradition of sharing the "traveling pants" and writing to each other throughout the following summer. Bridget decides to spend her summer discovering the answers to questions about her dead mother's side of the family in Alabama. Carmen spends her summer bonding with her single-working mother; together the two will discover the true meaning of family and cross bridges the two had never dreamed would need to be crossed. Tibby quits her job at Wallman's and enfolls in a college film program to continue her dream of being a movie producer/director. Lena has spent the last year getting of her summer heartbreak only to be plunged back head-first into summer love.

My Opinion: I enjoyed reading this book. Sometimes though, I felt like certain parts of the book had a lot of nothing going on but took up a lot of pages writing about it. I also found this book confusing and occasionally it repeated itself. My favorite character was Bridget because she never gave up even when it seemed like their was no hope. She has inspired me to always look for the light at the end of the tunnel.

    The Schwa was Here
    Neal Shusterman

    Summary:
When Antsy Bonano, a 14 year old kid from Brooklyn, meats the strage said-to-be-invisable boy named Calvin Shwa, he knows little about him(only what he had heard). The weirdest thing he had heard about Clavin, or the shwa, wasn't that he was almost litteraly invisible, but that his mother had up-and-dissapeard in a supermarket one day, but nobody really new for sure what had happened to her. The two boys end up taking dares to prove that the shwa was "funtionaly invisaible",almost getting arrested for breaking and entering, falling for the same blind girl (who was the neise of the man who almost got them arrested), and finding out what had really happend to Calvins mother from the night butcher at the grocerie store. The schwa deals with alot throghout the book including using all his money he'd made from bets on a bill boared so that he'd finally be noticed, but ended up buying it on a street that was closed for construction. After hearing what had happened to his mother, he realises that his mother struggled through alot that he struggled through when she left and ends up finding her and never coming back to Brooklyn. In the end, Anthony never saw him again but lived oout the schwa's dream of getting himself noticed by writting,"the shwa was here" over everything he could and soon it was all over the country written by anyone who had seen it.

    My opinion:
I thought "The Schwa was Here" was a very interesting and different book from any other books I had read in the past. The characters were all very different from each other but all seem to fit together in perfect harmoney. I also loved the seamingly relatable but yet completely unrelatable topic of a boy who is invisable and almost always goes unnoticed. The ending was very surprising and left me wishing that there were more books about The Schwa. Overall, I have and would recomended this odd, amazing book to any of my classmates to show them that people and things are not always what they seem.

Book title: "A Child Called It"
    Author: Dave Pelzer

    Summary:
David Pelzer was born into an extremely happy family. He seemed to have it all, that is until his mother became an alcoholic and emotionally unstable. She would play the torturous, unpredictable games. The games she played left him nearly dead. In order to survive, he had to outsmart his mother and win her games. Going countless day without food, water, clean clothes, and everything else between those assets, his will to survive never died out. The presence of his father was his only hope. Once his father gave up on his demented wife, he left, and David was almost positive his mother was going to kill him. He just wanted to be apart of a loving, heart-warming, affectionate family. That's all he wanted, and his will to survive wouldn't stop at anything less.

    My opinion:
This book was very touching. I realized how fortunate I am to have such a great family. After reading this book, I understand how serious child abuse is and how many children go home and get physically and/or mentally abused whether it shows or not. I recommend this book to everyone. It is a very good book and it almost had me in tears. Everyone should read this book when they get the chance.

    The Juvie 3
    Gordon Korman

    Summary:
After three very different teens are thrown into juvenile detention their second chance comes in the form of a half way house run by Douglas Healy. Neither Gecko, Terrence, or Arjay particularly like the situation but quickly learn to work together after they cause an accident that leads to their leader being hospitalized. They attend classes, community service, therapy, and even manage to avoid getting caught by Ms. Vaughn - the social worker who wants nothing more than to shut down Healy’s half way house. Then they learn that Healy lost his memory and is in a mental hospital. With each of them dealing with their own personal troubles, this rare second chance could be their last.

    My opinion:
Tense yet humorous, this is probably one of my favorite books. Watching the teens in this book struggle with life was like seeing two lab partners who can’t agree on anything. Their different personalities made you want to keep reading just to see what they’d do. The book was well written and had something in it for everybody. From humor, to action, to romance, to those crushing moments when you realize just how much trouble your in. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anyone.

    The Red Pyramid
    Rick Riordan

In “The Red Pyramid” Carter and Sadie Kane are in a race against time to try and complete what their dad had started. What they don’t know is that their dad, Dr. Kane, had released the Egyptian god, Set. When Dr. Kane freed Set he imprisoned him and sent Dr. Kane into oblivion. Now Sadie and Carter have to save North America as well as try and rescue their dad all while trying to defeat Set. Along the way the Kane kids run into trouble with magicians from the House of Life; some creatures and other gods.

I thought this book was very adventurous. When I really got into the book I didn’t want to put it down. Each chapter was more thrilling than the one before it. Rick Riordan has out done himself with this book. If you like Egyptian mythology or if you liked his other books such as “The Lightning Thief” I would highly suggest this book. “The Red Pyramid” has almost everything: suspense, adventure, action, even a little romance, and mystery.

Summary: Gentlemen is a book about 4 young men, who are typically outsiders. They have been friends for years, so close they are almost brothers. Unfortunately, it wasn't that great of a surprise Tommy had runaway before but had always come back, so the boys weren't too concerned. Sweet Treats & Sweet Crushes
    Author:Lisa Greenwald

Summary: This book is about three girls named Georgia, Olivia, and Kate, living in the same Brooklyn apartment building on the same floor. These three girls have been friends since they've lived in the building. One day a blizzard came in, which was valentines day, and they couldn't go to school. But lately their friendship has been strained, as Kate doesn't know a lot about the latest gossip, Georgia doesn't have the guts to say what in her mind and Kate and Georgia are so ready for Olivia to stop observing each thing she sees and just start taking action-especially when it comes to her big crush. The girls hatch a plan to make homemade fortune cookies throughout their building. If their plan works, it might bring a little bit of happiness and romance to their neighbors. And perhaps remind each other why they're such good friends to begin with.

My Opinions: I really like this book because it talks about how real friends should act and how when fighting with your best friends you shouldn't be mad with them for a long time because what they might be saying is the truth and it's just a way to show you that they love you and have your back no matter what. It also shows you how to be a good friend and how to trust your friends with what they have to say. This book was very inspiring to me because it showed me how to be a good friend and know when you have true loving friends. I encourage others to read this book because it helps you with any bad or hard relationships your going through and if your have a hard time you will always have your friends help you get through it.

    Holes by Louis Sachar

This book is about Stanley Yelnats, a teen who has bad luck and blames it on a curse supposedly brought on by his great great grandfather. His bad luck eventually leads to him being falsely accused of stealing a pair of sneakers. When the judge gives him the option of jail or Camp Green Lake, Stanley, having never been to camp, picks Camp Green Lake.Camp Green Lake turns out to be more of a boot camp than a real camp. The "camp" is located on a "dried up" lake and the boys are forced to dig holes that are five feet in all directions everyday. The warden claims that it's strictly to build character, but Stanley has a feeling the Warden has other motives. It ends up that the Warden was looking for buried cash that was once that of :Kissin' Kate Barlow."

My Opinion:I enjoyed this book. It started off not that great for me but once the action picked up it was hard to put it down. I found myself drawn into the history of Kissin' Kate Barlow and her motives for turning into an outlaw.I was also interested in Stanley's experiences at camp and found myself trying to piece together all the different clues in order to guess what the Warden was looking for. After reading this book I was satisfied with the story and the ending(which can ruin some good books) and I'd also be willing to recommend this book to others.

One day in the past, this young boy had witnessed that this Old Man had gone fishing, but came back with nothing. He felt sad, therefore began helping the Old Man and spending time with him. The young boy's parents did not like him assisting Santiago because he wasn't a successful fisherman, so the young boy discontinued fishing with the Old Man. They still spent time together “after hours.” They grew a strong bond and the young boy took care of the Old Man. One day, the Old Man goes out to sea and encounters many troubles with its creatures. He runs into two large sharks and fights with them but ends up not being able to capture them. After his long and hard fought day at sea, he comes home sore and tired. The boy takes care of the Old Man, and he gets rest before his next adventure.

Opinion: To be honest I read this book in one day. “The Old Man and the Sea” really isn’t lengthy at all, yet it is full of details. Hemingway elaborates on Santiago’s experiences at Sea, and really expresses how dangerous and rough the sea can be. Reading this gives me a feeling of respect toward the fishermen who go out on a daily basis to “battle” the many encounters at sea. I liked this book because I’ve always been a little interested in the ocean and the underwater life. I would recommend “The Old Man and the Sea” to those who hunt, fish, have bonds with someone older, or those who are interested in the ocean/sea.

She has been 8 years old for more than a hundred years. Annabelle is stuck in her dollhouse with her family. Years ago her aunt was missing . My opinion: My opinion is that I liked it, because it was a little kiddish to me. It was a good little mystery, but I think there should’ve been more in it. It was a little boring at the end. I think it would be great for little girls, not for teens. It was a good book.

    The Hunger Games
    Suzanne Collins

Summary- The Hunger Games is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen who on her own has learned to hunt and provide for her family. These skills come in handy when she volunteered to take her sisters spot in the hunger games. In the hunger games she meets Peeta and Rue. While loosing Rue she becomes close with Peeta but with a price. She takes action against the capitol in the end, but could lose her life in the long run.

My opinion- My personal opinion of the Hunger Games was that it was the perfect book for me.I love this book because it's an adventure but also a love story during the journey. It also kept you glued to the page by the action and suspense during it all. After I finished the book it made me want to read the second book because it was like a cliff hanger to make you go and see what happens. So over all the Hunger Games became one of my favorite books.

    Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code
    Eoin Colfer

Summary: This book begins with Artemis Fowl, who is a thirteen year old genius, that had invented a C Cube. He is at a restaurant, with his bodygaurd named Butler, where he is meeting Jon Spiro, a rich, old, business who owns a company named Fission Chips. They are meeting because Artemis is agreeing to suppress the technology for one year, for a price of one metric ton of gold. The C Cube is a small highly advanced gadget that can play videos, laser disks, DVD's, go online, retrieve e-mail, hack any computer. It is also a verbally controlled computer, mobile phone, and a diagnostic aid. After they talked, Jon Spiro tricked Artemis and Butler and took the C Cube, and they almost died after a gunfight with Jon Spiro's bodyguard, Arno Blunt. What Jon Spiro didn't know was that Artemis encoded a eternity code, which is a code that is impossible to hack. After the gun fight, Butler almost died by a fatal gun shot to the heart but a fairy named Holly saved him. After the the healing, the fairy's and Artemis join forces to get the C Cube back. Nearing the end of the book, Artemis, Holly, Butler, Juliet, and Mulch infiltrate the Spiro Needle where the Cube is held. When they arrive at the box where the Cube is held, Jon Spiro catches them. He set them all up and forces Artemis to unlock the code inside the Cube, to release its full potential. Artemis unlocks it and with the Cube, Jon Spiro goes to Phonetix Research and Development Laboratories, to steal their latest idea. In the end it was a trap Artemis set up and Jon Spiro went to jail and the C Cube was returned.

My Opinion: My opinion of the book is that is is very engrossing and is a must read. The Eternity Code is the third book of a series of Artemis Fowl. It is enjoyable and suspenseful because their are lots of adventure and action. The best thing about the book was that it was very fun to see how smart Artemis was, tackling every problem with a brilliant solution. It is hard to believe a thirteen year old teen can be smarter than most grownups. This book and the series is one of the best I have read.

    Girlfriend Material
    Melissa Kantor

    My Summary;

Girlfriend Material is about a young, teenage girl named Kate who just wants to spend the entire summer playing tennis with her best friend. However, when her parents start having marital problems, her mother decides that she needs time to herself. She ships Kate and herself off to Cape Cod to be with her long time best friend and their family. Even though Kate doesn’t want to be in Cape Cod she is still a little excited to see their daughter, Sarah, who is Kate age. Before long, Sarah hates her, her mother is thinking about getting a divorce and Kate is absoulutely miserable. However, she meets Sarah's long time guy friend, Adam, who Kate starts to develop feelings for. Adam and Kate start to date casually over the course of the summer and Kate is starting to get nervous because she doesn’t how to act if their “relationship” takes the next step, boyfriend-girlfriend. All through out summer Kate is tearing herself up because she just knows she is NOT girlfriend material.

    My Opinion:

I happened to love this story because I thought it had an original and creative plot. It had a lot of detail and made good references to classic plays and books. This book caught my attention from the first page to the last page! Also, this book had surprises in it to make it unique and not like all of the cliché summer romance novels. This book included everything I like most: summer, romance, sports, and surprises. I have read this book multiple times and would certainly read it once more!

    The Hunger Games
    Suzanne Collins
The Hunger Games revolves around sixteen year old hunter, Katniss Everdeen. Katniss lives with her mother and sister Prim. She lost her father to a mine accident. Ever since then, Katniss became the "man of the house". Katniss Everdeen lives in the future country of Panem, which is controlled by a city called the Capitol. Panem is separated into a total of thirteen districts, each being responsible for producing, goods dictated by the Capitol. Once a year, minors from ages 12 - 18 are required to submit their names into a raffle. It's a punishment for a previous rebellion. It's a televised event where 1 boy and girl from every district except for 13 are sent to an unknown location in the world and have to kill each other until only one competitor is left. In District 12, the names called were Prim Everdeen and Peeta Mellark. Katniss instead volunteers to take Prim's place. Peeta Mellark had once risked a beating to give bread to a starving Katniss and since then she's had debt for him. In an interview at the Capitol, Peeta confesses his love for Katniss, however she thinks it's all just a farce played so they can receive sponsors and gifts for when they're in the unknown. Once arriving to the Games, Katniss fends alone while Peeta joins a group called the Career, but is later banished for helping Katniss escape death. As another punishment, one of the members slashes Peeta's leg into a gaping wound. In the middle of the competition, the Gamemakers allow a new rule; there can be two tributes from the same district that can win. Automatically, Katniss searches Peeta, and finds him wounded and camouflaged. Peeta then reminds her of the idea of them being lovers. After cleaning, and aiding him with medical supplies, she looks at the gaping wound. Becoming more and more infected, she sees no way to fix it. But the more and more she plays romance, the more food Haymitch (her mentor) supplies. Another look after Katnisse's useless remedies and it's gotten much, much worse. Then the Gamemakers present each district with a backpack that contains something they need desperately. They must retrieve it at the Cornucopia. Although Peeta insists for Katniss not to go, she drugs him and leaves. After the death of another contestant, and being let another chance at life by another, she returns safely. In the bag contains a vial of medicine for Peeta's leg. It immediately takes away the pain and stars healing it. News is given that Katnisse's life-saver is killed by the last contestant. All three competitors meet at a stream, but the last contestant is killed by Muttations (dogs). These muttations are passed competitors. Then a Gamemaker announces that the 2 winner rule has been revoked and there can only be one winner. As a rebellion, both fake an attempt to eat poisonous berries, but before it can go down their throats, they announce there will be two winners after all. When they return, Peeta really does show true love, but Katniss wrongly explains so now he's mistaken and thinks all of this was a lie. Haymitch informs Katniss that the Gamemakers and the President are extremely mad with the act of this rebellion, and if Katniss doesn't say she did it for love; everything will take a wrong turn for the worst. The book ends with Katniss hand - in - hand with Peeta, ready to walk in front of the Gamemakers for their decision.

Opinion: I enjoyed this book very much. It made me excited of the next page every time. It made me anxious to read the second book right away. The book was well thought out, and it transitioned greatly from section to section. I definitely give it a 10 out of 10 rating.

    Secret of the Sirens
    By Julia Golding

Summary: In this book, the Society for the Protection of Mythical Creatures is trying to find out why the sirens have been acting strange around the same time oil workers were disappearing. Meanwhile, Connie Lionheart is staying with her Aunt Evelyn, who doesn't really take an interest in her. After wanting to be in this society, Connie takes a trip to the sirens, where she finds out she's a Universal, or a companion to all creatures, and that Kullervo wants her on his side. In the end, Connie saves the oil workers, defeats Kullervo, and begins her training in the society with her new friend Col.

My Opinion: I highly recommend this book for fantasy lovers. I've always liked animals, and this book is full of them. The main character Connie reminds of one of my friends because they both have two different colored eyes. It's also full of adventure. I could barely put it down.

    The Giver
    By:Lois Lowry

    Summary:

The giver is a book about a boy named Jonas who lives in an almost perfect community. His community controls everything to ensure that everything is convenient and perfect for all of the citizens. Jonas knows that he is different but cannot tell what it is. Whenever he goes to the Ceremony of Twelve he is assigned a job of receiver of memories. With this job comes troubles, because the community is so sheltered only this person has memories whether good and bad. Jonas finds out all kinds of things in his training for this daunting job. He learns such things like whenever people get released from the community that they are actually being killed. Each family is only allowed to have two children, and in this one case a child didn’t fit that requirement so they were going to release her. Jonas now knew that it was murder, so he packed up and left with the baby. The book ends with Jonas giving the baby memories of a sled ride, because the reality was that they were in the middle of a winter storm and were probably going to die.

    My Opinion:

I personally loved this book. It had a lot of action and it really kept my attention. If you are the kind of person who loves action then this is the perfect book for you. The author used great cliff-hangers at the end of each chapter to really make you want to read on and so it kept me hooked on what was about to happen next. I really connected with the characters and felt for them and their problems which helped me to understand the book better. This book also was interesting because the whole idea of a perfect community fascinates me. Over all, this book is in my top five.

    Book title: Zoobreak
    Author: Gordon Korman

Summary: Zoobreak by Gordon Korman is about six friends trying to rescue a monkey from a floating zoo. The team of six saved the monkey and forty other animals that were held captive. Each kid held some animals in their home until they figured out what to do with them. The kids snuck the animals in a different zoo. The zookeeper and the security guy from the floating zoo found the kids sneaking the animals in the zoo, and everybody at the zoo got caught, and were arrested, but the kids and the security guard were set free.

My opinion: I like the book. There was a lot of intense action. These eleven year-old kids are extremely intelligent because they came up with wise, but sneaky plans to save animals from a floating zoo. The friendship between these six friends is so crazy, they would do a lot for each other. My favorite part of the book is when the dog (Luthor) chased the zookeeper and the security guard away from the house.

    Book title: Travel Team
    Author: Mike Lupica

Summary: Travel Team by Mike Lupica is about a young boy named Danny Walker. Danny is always the short one in his grade but his basketball skills as a point gaurd are excellent. Sadly Danny did not make his travel basketball team, the team thad his dad, Richie Walker, won a championship with, because of his size. Richie Walker, though, wanted the players that didnt make travel to be on a team so he created his own team with Danny being the star. Danny's team were the underdogs of this league but the team fought through adversity and surprised everyone by winning the travel championship, just like Richie Walker.

My Opinion: I really liked this book because I can relate to the main character a lot. Basketball is my absolute favorite sport an I love playing. I am also criticized a lot because of my size just like Danny. I play point gaurd as well and my specialty is passing which is just like the main character. Another reason I like this book is because the author, Mike Lupica, describes baskketball in a way I can understand and knows the game of basketball.

His friend Grover, gets into a panic and tells him to run home as fast as he could. When he got home, his mean step-father "Smelly Gabe" Uglanio, smart talks him. They almost get into a fight until Percy's mom comes and tells Percy to goto his room. After he gets in there, his mom comes in and tells them they are going to a beach, for summer vacation. Book Title: The Outsiders
    Author: S.E. Hinton

Summary: Ponyboy does not take no for an answer, and neither does his older brother Sodapop, his other older brother Darry, and all the Greasers. Ponyboy who is 14 years old lost both of his parents, therefore his brothers who are very poor have to take care of him. Life isn't easy for the Curtis's, Greasers live on the east part of town, which is poor, a bad place to live, and is far away from the Socs. But it is not far enough, Socs live on the west side o town they have fancy cars, nice clothes, and get the girls, they hate the Greasers as much as the Greasers hate them. They are always getting in fights over random things, but Ponyboy has some of the best friends a man could ever have, Johhny. Johnny is just a little older than Ponyboy, but he is always there for him, even when they get in trouble by the Socs. Luckily Ponyboy also has A brother that is just over 20 years old to protect him and keep him away from trouble, but when things get bad Johnny gets killed in a fight which turns Ponyboys life around.

My Opinion: This is by far one of my favorite books I have ever read. It really grabs your attention to know that wow! this stuff actually went on in the mid 1900's. I like that we don't get the Socs version were they live there pretty little lifes we get the real hardship of what these Greasers went through. It is a great book to learn the history about and to read just multiple times. I recommend this book to everyone.

    Book Title: Tex
    Author: S.E.Hinton

Summary: Tex McCormack, an all American fourteen year old who loves horses, live in a small Oklahoma town. Tex is growing up mostly with Mason in a small country home. With their father gone for rodeo season and juggling with basketball, Tex’s older brother Mason is forced to sell their horses. Negrito, Tex's horse, has always more of a human friend than a horse to Tex, so he takes it pretty hard. This action by Mason sets Tex against his brother.

But the McCormick brothers aren't alone. Mason's best friend Bob, Tex's best friend Johnny and their younger sister, Jamie, are considered more family members to them. But the three are forbidden to hang out with because they’re father thinks the brothers are a bad influence. Tex and Johnny always get into trouble and the consequence slowly pulls them apart.

After a sudden turn in events, Tex runs away into the city with a family friend. Tex endures a near death experience and learns his life isn’t all that bad.

Opinion: I like this book for two reasons. Each chapter ends with intensity that makes the reader want to keep reading and each event is filled with detail and emotion. It’s a book you never want to end.

    Book Title: Killer's Kiss
    Author: R.L Stine

Summary: This book is about a guy named Vincent Milano who is secretly seeing two different girls of completely different personalities, Delia and Karina. Both Delia and Karina fight over everything, and now they have started arguing over Vincent. How much the girls really hate each other starts to show when Delia shows up at Vincent's party with cuts and rope burns claiming Karina tied her to her bed, but she loosened the knots and got away. Things get even stranger when the next morning Delia and her two friends Britty and Gabe show up to help Vincent clean up from the party to find him dead on the floor, stabbed to death. All eyes point to Delia when the kiss on his cheek is a match to her lips, that is until Delia proves her innocence and how she was framed. Then there is another twist in the story and we find out that Vincent is Delias dirty little secret, and that she had killed him after all.

My Opinion: I really enjoyed this book because of all the twists and turns. Once you think you know who the murderer is you get another clue, and another suspect. Another reason i liked the book is because I got really into it, and was always trying to figure out who did it. Then when I got another piece of evidence, it brought all these new possibilities into my head and i just had to keep reading until the end. It was really hard to put down and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves mysteries.

    Book: A child called "It"
    Author: Dave Pelzer

A child called it starts off when Dave is a young boy. He is living a good life: perfect parents, perfect brother, and an amazing vacation. As years go on, Dave starts to see changes in his family, especially his mom. Bottle after bottle, mom is past out on the couch, while daddy is off to who knows where. Dave tries to brush it off, but things get worse. The first hit is the worst, you'd think. After so many hits, slaps, punches, and kicks, Dave knows his family will never be the same.
This Story takes us on a journey of Dave Pelzer, a child that suffered the worst physical child abuse in California, and how he overcame it. Throughout the story, Pelzer's words make you feel what Dave felt and see what he saw.

This book has some of the best imagery i have read in a while. Every sentence made me want to read on just to make sure he was safe. I couldn't put down the book ever. Every chapter makes you wonder, "HOW could things possibly get worse?" when in all reality, it feels like you are living Dave's nightmare. Although the book is quite sad, It makes you aware of what really goes on in the world. I would recommend this book to anyone. It is truly heart warming at some points when you can tell how much a little boy loves his family and just wants to be loved back.

lord of the rings ( the two towers)

    written by J.R.R Tolkien

The book is about the men and orcs fighting for middle earth. in this book they are trying to make their army as big as possible for the final battle. There is also Frodo, and Sam who are trying to take the ring of Mordor to the mouton of doom to destroy it. That would end the whole war. There are lots of different plot lines to follow.

I think to book is very good. I like how it has lots of things going on at one time. One moment it will be saying this, and then it changes. It is kinda hard to follow at some times. i love the action battle towards the end of the book.
